"Sorry (She Went Down On Me But I Thought About You)," the opening track on Toys From Balsa, could be the most obnoxious song about infidelity since Stephen Stills' ubiquitous and execrable "Love The One You're With." No need to detail Bailey's song; the title pretty much says it all. At least Stills' number, aside from its lyrics, was a great pop song; "Sorry" plods. Things barely improve with the melodramatic and obvious "East & West"; viewing divorce from a child's perspective ("Daddy, Mummy, please stop crying/I can't stand it when you're fighting"), it evokes the worst aspects of Meatloaf and late Pink Floyd. The next hour or so of music is pleasant enough, or probably would be if I'd sat through it all. But don't take my word for it; other listeners whom I respect have a far more favorable take on this album.
