A strange, morose record, ranging lazily from wistful pop ("The Loneliest Boy In Toyland) to old-school psychedelic freakout ("Old Enough"), with a simmering undercurrent of temp-worker rage that boils over in "Office Suite, Part II," an extended rant over a '70s porno-funk soundtrack that's too real for comfort, a Taxi Driver for the cubicle set. Like someone who just snuck a joint in the washroom, Texas keeps its head down, quietly going about its work with an odd gleam in the eyes.
