Thanks to my legendary procrastination, I've now missed two opportunities to review this during the holidays. Ah well, fuck it. Brace yourself Virginia: there is no Carol Cleveland, at least not on this Christmas album produced by the Hughes brothers of Spinto Band infamy (There are, of course, many Carol Clevelands in the world, the most famous of which lent occasional sex appeal to Monty Python's Flying Circus. However, the once-luscious blonde has not endorsed this effort.) Bringing together loopy electronic-greeting-card covers of classics like "Holiday For Strings" and "Silent Night" with equally loopy quirk-pop originals like "Forgotten Presents" and "Token Kwanzaa Song," Carol Cleveland Sings spreads holiday cheer like cranberry sauce on sweet gherkins (don't knock it until you're tried it). Don't wait until Xmas 2004 to get your copy.
