So begins the 11th Farces Wanna Mo recording in 9 years, and the first since 1998's Unroyal Nonagons cassette split my head like a ripe melon. Not so much a band as "an open canvas" stretched by Dave W., on which various friends and acquaintances splash sonic fancies. A little story: Before she became absorbed in Pokemon and other more important diversions, my little girl had a habit of pulling my unreviewed CDs onto the floor, taking them apart and scattering the pieces around the house. Among the most frequent victims of Allegra's assault was Recording @ Home Plus Seven, and now, having heard the miraculously undamaged disk, I'm convinced the tot was trying to tell me something. Namely, this shit is the bomb, pops! Music this idiosyncratic defies comparison; this is, after all, a fellow who blithely puts Daniel Johnston, The Fall, Art of Noise, the Pogues, Big Black and Jonathan Richman on his influence list. Know only that it's free -- in both senses of the term.
